About Me

Hi! I’m Justin Martinez

I help students learn to reach their musical goals through listening, learning, creating, and playing. Think of it like a puzzle – rewarding because it is just challenging enough in the right ways. That’s the secret sauce!

Music lessons will challenge you. I will encourage you. With engaging and structured lessons, you will learn to play and feel good about playing. Pick on!

Guitar Lessons

Start from the beginning or level up your current skills. All styles but my specialties include: Classical, Flamenco, Bluegrass, Folk, Rock, Blues, Brazilian, Jazz. Ages 8 and up.

Piano Lessons

With the right approach, piano is a timeless gateway to the world of music. We focus on hearing and playing music first. Rhythm and harmony to begin and then add some melody and texture. This isn’t your parent’s piano torture, this is fun on the keys!

Ukulele Lessons

A great starting instrument for any age, and a rewarding instrument for more advanced players. A very versatile instrument, the uke plays all styles, including pop songs. My specialties: pop, rock, Hawaiian/Island, Flamenco, Brazlian, Jazz

Music Theory Lessons

Whether you’re looking for a boost in school or how to apply it to your instrument, I teach music theory to all students. Beginning with the ear, theory comes alive when you play it and hear it. Name it, hear it, use it – that’s how you get it.

Mandolin Lessons

Ah, the mighty mandolin! My second home in music. This can be a tough instrument to start on but once you have the musical basics down, the mando soars. Melody, chords, texture, rhythm, this little guy has it all! My specialties are: Bluegrass, Folk, Jazz

Songwriting Lessons

Dust off those notebooks filled with lyrics and little musical doodles, we’re writing music! A bit of applied theory and a lot of creativity, songwriting is a great way to explore music. If you play long enough, you’ll have the drive to come up with some ideas. You learn alot about music by writing it, even if those creations are never shared.
